I was surprised to see Lucille at a Gawad Kalinga housing project in Daan Pare where I was donating some muscle power by doing some manual labor for the construction of the houses. The project is still on it's early stages and they all need all the help thay can get specially sponsorship. I am very happy that Lucille is very
much involved in this. So here we are: Boy Mateo, me, Rudito Angeles, Lucille, Francis Sarmiento and her sister,Lorna, Ric Bernabe, abd 3 others whose names I can't remember( remember the ice cream?).. Wanna pitch-in?

Terrific post, Rollie. Thank you.
Can we hope for more?
Thanks Rollie, for the souvenir photo at the Gawad Kalinga site I hope many generous people will sponsor houses for the poor in Orion,I will see how my circle of influence will work this time...another site will be opened at the reclamation area in Sta. Elena (Mantigbe)to be donated by the Municipality of Orion.
The project is laudable, let's find out if our batch can sponsor one house which cost about Php 50,000.
I am making preparations for the activities I must be doing after I retire.I cannot imagine myself being idle...
Here is a praiseworthy project that we may get involved in. It is for our own needy people, in our own little backyard, our own home, the beloved town of Udyong so to speak.
If the saying "Charity begins at home" means anything to us individually and as batchmates, let us dig dipper into our hearts and pockets. Let us make a difference to our own less fortunate people's lives. Let us make our own lives count for something worthwhile other than our own personal interests.
We should all get behind Rollie and Luz (unless your heart is made of stone or forged steel.)
We await pledges of donations. And thank you in advance for your kindness.
Thank you Pareng Rollie and Luz for your involvement in such a worthy project for the sake of the needy in our own town of Udyong. Nadama ko kung gaano kahirap ang walang tahanan because it was happened to us when a big fire was broked out in our barangay so many years ago.
Corazon I second the motion for your appeal of a pledges of donations. If the cost of one house is approximately 50,000 pesos according to Luz, I think our batch can sponsor one.
Apologies for the spelling error: "dipper" should have been spelt "deeper".
Rollie and Lucille, I am very much proud of you for your involvement in this such great project. This means both of you are members of Courples for Christ as I know Gawad Kalinga is a project of Couples for Christ. We here in United States who are members of Couples for Christ are also active contributing for Gawad Kalinga. Mike, I think Azon and Lucille's suggestion for our batch to donate one house is so great. This is one way of helping the poor in our town. Last May my family visited Kawad Kalinga project in Lipa City a one village for the poor. It is a nice feeling helping others in this way. Rollie more posting please.
Pilar,
How I wish I could be a member ...there is a group within the Couples for Christ who accepts singles like me,it is called Handmaid of the Lord.Perhaps later,I can activate my church involvement which was put aside when I was assigned in Pampanga. Now, I am just devoting a part of my time in simple chores. More serious involvement in socio-civic projects will come in handy once I retire.
According to the GK team, the cost of one unit of house as of September is Php.60,000.i know with the generosity of Batch '63 we can do it.Cheers to all Batchmates!!
In as much as i can't contribute my body to help out in your projects i'm willing to contibute whatever amount you agree upon.Just let me know how much and how we're gonna do it.this is the least i can do.This is a very worthwhile project, there's nothing we can't do if we put our hearts in it.
I would like to thank Lucille and Rollie for opening this topic regarding Gawad Kalinga. I know God made them as our instrument to open our mind to help Gawad Kalinga Project.
