what a splendid idea, larpi! oo nga ano, it would be nice to know kung sino ang magkukumare at magkukumpare.

Mareng perlita serrano is my kumadre sa binyag at kasal ng eldest nila na si cherry. mareng fely reyes sa binyag ng eldest child nila na si dave, at si mareng aida sison sa binyag ng second son niya na si russel. i hope my mind is still working and i got the facts right. sana wala akong nalimutan. (at almost 60, one can never be sure about anything. sigh!)

Larps,
This is an interesting topic. Thanks for bringing this up. However, I am curious to know when and where this practice started of having ninongs and ninangs and therefore being kumadres and kumpadres. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hope to read more of your posts, Larps.

i have no idea when and where this practice of having ninong and ninang started. what i know is the ninong and ninang become the child's second parents. theirs is a sacred parent-child relationship. so, when the child has a set of godparents, he/she automatically have two sets of parents - his/her biological parents and the ninong and ninang.

i hope i can find an answer to your query when i come back from a short vacation. i'll try my best, promise.

Thanks, Josie. Looking forward to reading about the origin of this practice. Have a safe trip to Negros. Be sure to come back next week.

I give thanks for those who had written their comments to this topic of mine. I hope Josie will start searching for Corzon's questions once she came back for a week vacation. What I know is that a child has to be baptized to take out the original sin we inherited from Adam and Eve. Then the godparents became the second parents who will guide the children to the right path of life and be good follower of our Lord God. Jossie you have to add more as you promise.
