Pres. Cory Aquino passes away

I just watched Sen. Noynoy Aquino making an announcement on tv. He announced the passing away of former President Cory Aquino on August 1, 2009, at 3:18 a.m. Philippine time, at the Makati Medical Center. What a sad day for all of us!

Let's pray for the eternal repose of her soul and strength for her family.

As she would have wished, let's continue helping and praying for one another, and for every Filipino.

Sen. Ninoy Aquino, " The Filipino is worth DYING for."
Pres. Cory Aquino, " The Filipino is worth LIVING for."

Cory Aquino catapulted from a mere housewife to one of our country's best presidents. She may have her weaknesses but she was instrumental in restoring freedom and democracy in the land. A victim of the dreaded C, she faced the inevitable with courage. She was worthy of emulation!

May her soul rest in peace!

She might have been politically naive when the tidal wave of an offended nation's emotion swept her into the highest office of the land despite her lack of governance and administration experience.

She might have failed to bring about the massive economic changes needed to resurrect the peoples'faith in their government and in themselves.

But there was something she had aplenty with which she ruled the land, while she nursed a broken heart - integrity/honesty/sincerity.

The task proved extremely huge for her but she did her humane best.

And even before her final days, she was in the thick of a campaign to root out the evil that now strangleholds the country.

She has fought a good fight. Her conscience will allow her to rest in well-deserved peace.
