Photos With Lolita

As expected Lolita did not recognize all of us when we visited her at the wake of her brother. There were long moments of really remembering names and faces after more than forty years . We only had a brief time talking to her as she seemed very sleepy after a long trip from Montreal. Since she will be staying for a month in the Philippines ,she promised to see the rest of the batch later. We will arrange the get together next week-end.

EUREKA! JOSIE IS ALIVE AND WELL

Greetings from the Garden State (News Jersey). If you're wondering where Josie is, have no fear! She is alive and doing well with hubby, Pete in tow. The couple is touring the northeastern part of the USA. They have been in California since the beginning of the year. With brothers and sisters of the Macalua spread out in California, Nevada, and Texas to keep them company. We are fortunate to be graced with their presence, when they landed in the Big Apple (New York City) last Friday roaming the whole city, with the Pangilinan family as their host. Today, being a federal holiday, we are all gathered here in our little town of Toms River. Pres. Mike Cruz and family came, along with Pete Macalua's long time friends and former colleagues from north western New Jersey, Mat and Precy Yap and son Tata. Needless to say, it is a mini-reunion by all counts, and still going. More pictures to follow. Good day everyone!

The USA Economy Now Out Of Control?

This post may seem to be alarmist but it is still worth a peek, JUST IN CASE there is a grain of truth in it

It Is Now Officially 'Out Of Control'
By Jim Sinclair
2-15-9

...I sent you a certain few emails that I consider to be the most important communications issued in my career that started in 1958.

This communication is to inform you as of 2/13/09, "It is totally out of control." There is no longer any means of reversal of the beginning of the final phase of the downward spiral now solidly set in motion.

For your sake, protect yourselves immediately.

Be prepared for disruptions in distribution common to hyperinflation.

1. You should have already distanced yourself from your financial agents. If you haven't you are headed for significant displeasure and strain.

2. Make sure you stay three months ahead on necessary items that could experience distribution delays such as prescribed medicine and preferred foods.

3. Even though real estate is far from a buy, if you can afford a second home outside of major cities it would serve a good purpose.

4. Own gold.

5. Consider that good gold shares of non-US companies incorporated in a non-US country operating in third country, traded on multiple exchanges are a means of money expatriation legally and in broad daylight if required.

6. For currencies, all you can do is own a spread held by a true custodial ship wherever that might be.

Simply said, as of Friday February 13th, 2009 the situation is in confirmed "Out of Control" mode as this well engineered downward spiral enters into a terminal phase.

The motive was profit and degree of the disintegration caused in the pursuit of this goal was not anticipated.

The key event was when Lehman was flushed - all hell broke loose. The hell cannot be contained in any practical manner.

I seek nothing of you but the protection of yourselves.

Respectfully yours,
Jim

Australian Inferno - Batchmates Update

Batchmates, you will be pleased to know that Anselmo, Cora and family as well as Letty (nee Mercado) are safe and well. Except for the sweltering heat and the greyish sky, they are not severely affected by the inferno in the state of Victoria that has so far taken over 180 people (with more missing and unaccounted for). The fire is still raging in about 23 suburbs with no rain expected today.

They wish to thank you all for your concern.

On a lighter and happier note, Anselmo and Cora's daughter, Grace is soon to wed Rodney Guinto of the USA in November in Melbourne. You may wish to know more about this happy event so here is a link: http://www.gracerodney.weddingwindow.com/

P.S. Benruben is well.

Don't lose hope

It's been a while since I have contributed to our blog. It's just that there's so many things going on.Last Sunday the Vietnamese priest in our parish shared with us his story.Because there are so many who lose hope and their faith in God whenever their lives have been shattered by some kind of misfortunes. It's so easy for them to blame God ,which is the cause of so many, leaving the church. He is one of the boat people who came to the US after the Vietnam war.About 31 people got into a small boat, about 4 feet in diameter with very little food and water and crossed the Pacific with the hope of escaping the govt. The first few days of their journey was fine but in the middle, they got caught in a very bad storm. It was so bad that he prayed to God as he has never prayed before. He told God that he is still too young to die and he could not accept the fact that everybody in that boat can possibly die.But the more he prayed the more the storm got worse. When he finally realized that it's impossible for them to survive,it was then that he surrendered to God and left everything to Him.Wether the storm stops or not it's now all up to Him.Then ,as if some kind of miracle happened, the storm stopped and now he is one of the priests in our church.

Once again,I'd like to remind us about our faith,no matter how small, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains.

Science finds the secret of a hot kiss

Jonathan Leake --London Times

IF you always thought you had a special chemistry with your loved one, you may finally have been proved right.

Researchers have found that a passionate kiss unleashes a complex chemical surge into the brain which makes a lover feel excited, happy or relaxed...

Batchmates, we may not the youngsters we were once upon a time but surely we can still handle a bit of excitement, can't we? If you are game enough to revisit the passion of our youth, read on:

Meeting of lips can spark chain of chemical changes that really turn your head

At Pilar's Place

Batch mates, here are some photos taken at Pilar's place just this evening when we gathered there .Only a few were able come because of the very short notice. Rollie was not around because he was in Tagaytay but we are lucky to have Aida Mendoza Sison . With pancit guisado and luglog ,suman and litsong manok we had a grand time eating and sharing some stories. We also talked about the next reunion, the details of which will be relayed to Pres. Mike by Pilar. Some initial activities will be done by us like looking for venues for the overnight, the picnic and the dinner dance.
