TEN PRINCIPLES FOR PEACE OF MIND

l. Do not Interfere in others' business unless asked.

2. Forgive and Forget.

3. Do not crave for recognition.

4. Do not be jelous.

5. Change yourself according to the environment.

6. Endure What cannot be cured.

7. Do not bite off more than you can chew.

8. Meditate regularly.

9. Never leave the mind vacant.

10. Do not procrastinate and never regret.

Cheers to you,Larps, for trying to energise the Batch.

Let me play the devil's advocate here though, just to stir up the discussion pot.

No wonder peace of mind is a rare bird. The rules are simply too tough, especially number 7. Taken literally, that sounds like being on a strict, restrictive diet. At our age eating is one of the last great pleasures. And a sign that we are still up and about. Should we deny ourselves that satisfaction?

And no.9 is just as tough as the aging sixtiers' mental faculties begin to go awol. It really is more a case of the mind leaving us. I usually write my mind on a pocket notebook which I clip on my shirt. Otherwise I end up looking for myself all over the place. There are worrying times when I wonder who that person I see in the mirror is.

No 6 is pehaps the easiest, as our options get fewer. So we accept our situation with resignation and endurance.

No 10 is rather late for most of us. We just don't have that much time left to procrastinate and yes, regrets we have quite a few as we review the choices we have made in our 3 scores years. But in the main, we have made choices we are mightily satisfied with.

Overall though, we all have not done too badly. We are still a formidable team to reckon with.

So Larps, please number 2 me.
