Highlights of Batch Meeting

I sent an email to Mike re the highlights of the batch meeting last July 19 at Violeta's place for him to solicit comments from those who are in the US, Canada and Australia. This morning I got an overseas call from him telling me to post the highlights in the blogsite. There were some minor deviations from the first agreements since we considered the comments we got .
We are still soliciting your suggestions, comments and reactions since all these are not final yet.

The batch meeting last Sunday, July 19 was attended by 15 batch members. We had a long discussion of the various activities lined up for the Reunion of the Decade . We considered the comments we got from the US based members as well as the comments and suggestions of the locals here. As a result there were some changes :

1.Schedules (Two Days Big Affairs)

Jan. 16 Saturday

8:00-9:00 A M --------------Thanksgiving Mass
9:00-5:00 PM --------------Batch Picnic with Families , Mans Forest Resort, Limay

Jan. 17 Sunday
AM-------------------------Visit to Gawad Kalinga in Daan Pare, Orion
PM------------------------- Dinner Dance, Raven Resort, Abucay
( Those who would opt to stay overnight at the
resort can do so.)

Jan. 18 Monday
Other small group activities may be planned .

2. Others :

--There was a suggestion that the food for the picnic shall no longer be "Pot Luck". The food committee will canvass the cost of catering for 100 persons . This arrangement was arrived at considering the hassles of cooking and bringing
food and the utensils to be used and also the discomfort of those not coming from Orion.

--The total number of persons each batch member will be bringing in the picnic shall be considered in advance to facilitate ordering of food . The food committee had prepared the menu for the picnic.

-- The expense for the food will be solicited from each batch mate apart
from the reunion contribution.

-- T- Shirt will be provided and shall be worn during the thanksgiving mass
and picnic.

--- Separate programs will be prepared for the 2 days big affairs, Jan 16 and 17.

---Each Committee shall give a report of the status of task assigned to them in
the next meeting on September.

I will go for whatever you guys decided. As January is winter time hope my trip will not be delayed as I already purchased my ticket and will be arriving Manila night of January 15 akala ko kasi Saturday night ang thanksgiving natin. Anyway if my flight is on time for sure i will be in Orion in the morning of January 16. See you then.

Just thinking aloud:

1. The Saturday mass is a thanksgiving mass, and is separate from Sunday mass. Ergo, the scheduled visit to GK should be after the Sunday morning mass. Would anyone know the Sunday AM Mass sched?

2. The suggestion to cater the food is excellent, so as not to burden those preparing the food, and to concentrate more on fellowship with batchmates.

3. It is also convenient to hold the dinner dance without staying in the hotel. Perhaps a room can be rented by the class for those who may have to freshen up or use the washroom or powder room (?).

4. My snappiest salute to the organizers! Thanks!

Ernie if I am not mistaken I think there is a 5:30 a.m. mass and another one at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. For sure we can go to mass Sunday Morning before Gawad Kalinga.

Luz what are the activities after Gawad Kalinga? Hope hindi ako antukin kasi may jet log pa ako by that time.

My two-cents suggestion:
8:00 a.m. Sunday Mass
9:15 a.m. Tapsilog breakfast sa turo-turo, KKB
10:30 a.m. Visit to GK
(? ) p.m. Dinner dance

Ernie, we will consider your suggestions...we will look for a turo turo where we can have our breakfast.
Pilar I think the visit at the Gawad Kalinga in the morning will be the last activity for Sunday morning. We can have our beauty sleep in the afternoon as preparation for the Dinner dance.

first of all, thanks so much to VIOLET, for always opening their home to the batch committee meetings, and for preparing sumptous snacks for everyone. (sayang, wala kami!)

kudos, too, to the hardworking batchmates who are spearheading the preparations. (sorry, wala kami.)

thanks to SIR EDR, for the reminder about the sunday mass. okay ang suggestion niya for us to attend the morning mass, have break
fast together ( pwede ba kina tia flor bascarra?)and then proceed to GK.

btw, could we do some tree planting activities there? or teach composting to the GK residents? (saving environment) maybe bring something for the kids, and a rosary for each household.

good idea na ipa-cater ang food. yon namang gustong magdala ng specialty nila - puwedeng-puwede. MOK, huwag ka nang oorder ng 1000 na ukoy ha? napakahirap ubusin!

sana, meron tayong sort of souvenir program, where our personal info, greetings, old pictures, family pictures, could be printed. it's something we could go back to again and again to reminisce the happy memories of our reunions. subscribers should pay for the cost of printing.

do we already have a design for the t-shirt logo? maybe ARCHITECT TOMMY CANARIA can do it for the batch. btw, what's our batch color?

let's include our elementary school teachers sa misa at picnic natin.

instead of going to the BAHAY-PUSO, how about holding a merienda cena for our surviving parents or guardians? it would be very meaningful, di ba?

dami ko pang naiisip, pero baka ma-overwhelm na kayo. later na lang uli.

Jo, your suggestion to give rosary is O.K. I will make rosary. Can you print copies how to say it in tagalog. Ernie naku miss ko ang patsiglog. Good Idea. Luz Meroon ba sa Orion na almusalan ng tapsilog. Excited to see you all at hindi na ako makakaurong kasi may ticket na ako kaya lang medyo tutuk ang dating ko kasi sobrang mahal ang ticket if I will be leaving on the early part of January. Luz thanks to you and to the committee for your hard work.

hoy, larpi! hindi PATsilog- TAPsilog yon. hahaha. TAPSILOG: tapa, sinangag at itlog. LONGSILOG: longganisa. sinangag at itlog. TOSILOG: tosino, sinangag at itlog at marami pang SILOG combinations.

wow. marunong ka palang gumawa ng rosaries. you make some and each one sa batch, bring one pa. para marami. will look for the rosary guide in pilipino and make copies for giveaway.

Jo, thanks for the correction. I like that tapa. Baka kulang sa akin ang isang order. Please make sure that you will be coming home same with Azon.
