H... S.... H...

Home Sweet Home!!!
Friday, March 13, 2009
Flying back home (HSW!!!) in a few days! After over two months of absence from home, I now fully realize why it's called 'HOME SWEET HOME'.

home is where the heart is...

home is where a lifetime of memories are etched in...

home is where our children and their spouses and their children are...

home is where our parents, siblings, in-laws and their families are...

home is where all our relatives are...

home is where our friends are...

home is where everyone knows you by your first name...

home is where people of the same culture, feelings, attitude, temperament are...

home is where the food tastes best...

home is where the sun shines brightly all day long...

home is where both the people and the weather are warm...

home is this... home is that... home is... home is...

(the list is endless...)

All I want to say now is ... THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!

"can't wait to be home!"

Part 2 March 13 Reunion

<

Third Stop: Sta.Barbara Wharf

We had our lunch at the Sta Barbara Wharf, a nice tourist spot. It is a place between beautiful mountains and the sea.It provides a panoramic view of the place with sea gulls flying in the sky.

Fourth Stop: Sta Barbara Mission
We arrived at the place around 4 pm and we were so lucky because we were allowed to see the Museum of Natural History for free. We were awed by the vast collections, from minerals, butterflies, birds ,animals, crystals to rocks.which were owned by the Anerican Indians.

At Solvang ,California

The last leg of our tour was at the Danish Community at Solvang, California where one can experience the ambiance of Norway,Sweden amd the Netherlands. There are real windmills, Norwegian restaurants, souvenir shops and other sights which seem to bring you to another land... many people were kind enough to volunteer taking our pictures. A funny joke about this gesture brought smiles on our lips, because if we were in the Philippines we will not be trusting strangers with our cameras.Would you?

There are more photos,we will be posting them later.Thank you Batch mates for sharing our joy in this once in a lifetine event. Next reunion will be with Annie&Eddie, Mike, Pilar and hopefully other Batch'63 in the East coast. Most of all our thanks to Nelia.

March 13 Mini reunion (Part 1)

<>

Just when everyone thought Friday the 13th is an unlucky day proved otherwise to us,Josie,Fely,me and our gracious host, Nelia. We really painted the town "Red" .so to speak. The bienvenida/despedida tendered by Nelia was so much fun . We traveled from Oxnard to Sta Barbara and Solvang, California in the brand new BMW 300 series ,with her as our driver !

The pictures were taken at Nato and Zeny Javier's residence in Oxnard were Fely and Josie are presently staying. My sister's residence is just some blocks away...so we started our escapade from there.

First Stop : Best Buy Store along Oxnard Road where Fely bought a digital camera and to test how it works, we posed in front and at the back of the car.Who says "only the young can be camera shy"

Second Stop: Orchids Showrooms at Sta. Barbara

We discovered Nelia's penchant with orchids ...she knows the dates when International Orchids Shows are scheduled. See how our Senior Beauties competed with the orchids !

Wait for Part 2,batch mates !

An "ultra-mini reunion"

Small in number, but BIG in happiness, in laughter, in camaraderie... That's how I would describe the "ultra-mini reunion" that Nelia, Luz, Mareng Fely and I had yesterday. WOW! We had a day of batchmate love that could last us a lifetime.

Luz came to our 'vacation house' here in Oxnard, CA. very early yesterday morning, all set for a day-long pasyal in Santa Barbara and Solvang. Mareng Fely prepared so much food and drinks (as if we were going on a three-day camping in the woods). Next came Nelia in her brand new 2-door BMW. Our cameras started to click! click! click! in the different nooks of my brother's house. It was a good buena mano for the photo-ops that we had from morning till late in the night.

Nelia was our host, driver and tour guide. (THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN, NEL!)

Our ever thoughtful president, Mike, called us up while we were having dinner at the Red Vikings Restaurant in Solvang. We felt his presence and concern when he did that.

We probably took hundreds of photos, so just see for yourself what we were up to yesterday - Friday, the 13th! It's Luz turn now to upload more pictures.

Luz arrives in LAX

Our 'other blog administrator', LUZ 'Lucille' QUICHO, landed safely at the Los Angeles International Airport last night.

Fely and I welcomed her early this morning via YM messages. We advised her to have as much rest as she can, before we go on an all day outing tomorrow, Friday, March 13, to Sta. Barbara, a very picturesque place after Ventura county, where the three of us (Luz, Fely and myself) are staying. Would you believe that we happen to be here in the same city and neighborhood in Oxnard, CA.?

The get-together in Sta. Barbara is Nelia's idea. It will be a bienvenida for Luz, and a despedida for me and Mareng Fely. Pete and I will be going back to our country, while Mareng Fely and Pareng Miling will be visiting their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Australia - very soon. Nelia will pick us up here in Oxnard, hopefully with Edita and other batchmates who live here in California.

We'll keep you posted, folks!

What A Surprise !

Oh,how did it happen? Me as blog administrator? I don't know how to be one, and I will be needing help from ms.orionjri. I am not really familiar with PC operations. All I can do best is to post a blog.

President MIGUEL CRUZ

Does anyone in the Batch realize that our indefatigable 'president for life' MIKE CRUZ is now on his 50th year as our leader? We elected him into office in 1959, when we were freshmen at JRI, so half a century na siyang namumuno sa atin. WOW! Who can beat that? Truly a world class record!
LET THE CONGRATULATIONS POUR IN, BATCHMATES! He deserves all of them and more.

On hindsight, ano na kaya ang edad niya ngayon? Kasi kung naging class president na natin siya ng limampung taon , imposible namang .......... tsk!tsk!tsk! MAHINA TALAGA AKO SA MATH.

"CONGRATULATIONS, GREAT LEADER OF JRIORIONBATCH1963! YOU ARE A BLESSING TO ALL OF US! Nawa'y patuloy kang biyayaan ng mabuting kalusugan, kaligayahan, mahabang buhay at masaganang pamumuhay.

MABUHAY SI PANGULONG MIGUEL CRUZ!!!

Birthday Greetings to March Celebrants

To all March born batch mates, including those not in this list, may you have a fun filled birthday with God's continuing blessings !

NELIA,

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH !!!

"Northeast pounded by late-winter snowstorm"

Greetings from the Garden State. Whoever claimed that winter is almost over, has another news coming. As you may or may not heard, mother nature once again proved that here in the East Coast, March is still part of winter. And boy, oh! boy, she has a lot punch proven this day. We are doing fine thanks God, hope our neighbors down in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Cruz's family in Hatfield, Pennsylvania fared okay, too. We have pretty close to 12 inches of snow accumulation in our neck of the woods, when this day is done. Our neighbors and friends in Canada, probably were smiling at us, for such a drop in a bucket accumulation. But considering we've been cruisin' through the winter without any major snowstorm, today was an exceptional day of our "fair" share of the whole deal. That's all folks! Let 's hear a bit of news from all great readers, please. Take care, everyone!
