Seven Proven Stress Busters

The past year had been stressful to me so to speak.Stressors at the workplace,at home, and my personal life cannot be avoided. They manifested in so many ways;depressed moods, disturbed sleep and even skin blemishes.I had to visit the dermatologist to have that recurring brown patch in my left leg treated. She said ,it is caused by stress.

All of us in one way or another get stressed...we also managed them in different ways,I would like to share an article it and I hope we will have a stress-free
2008.

Here are some ways to help you reduce the stress in your life:

Share your frustrations with a friend or counselor.

Schedule a massage.

Exercise.

Get adequate rest.

Go for a walk.

See a movie.

Listen to your favorite music.

Certain food choices can also reduce stress:

Eat a wide variety of healthy foods.

Eat in moderation -- control the portions of the foods you eat.

Reach a healthy weight and maintain it.

Eat at least five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Eat food that is high in dietary fiber such as whole grain cereals, legumes and vegetables.

Minimize your daily fat intake. Choose foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Limit your consumption of sugar and salt.

Limit the amount of alcohol that you drink.

Make small changes in your diet over time.

Combine healthy eating habits with a regular exercise program.
You may not have the luxury of taking a daily walk accompanied by a pampered pooch, but there are ways to reduce some of the anxiety in your life. Try the suggestions listed above or come up with some of your own. And, remember to take time to sniff the roses.

Indeed, Luz, life is a great stressor, especially if the main focus is the all-important SELF. So perhaps in addition to what one can do for one's self as listed in your post, a SHIFT OF FOCUS from self to others may help alleviate this oppressive condition.

Rather than want/get more for the self, do something for/give something to others: thoughts, care, time, material things that may help make other's lives easier, services, companionship, loving friendship, a real outgoing concern for others and their needs.

When busy with genuine caring for others, there is little time to stress about one's self and its own insatiable cravings for all sorts of wants and needs, material or otherwise.

There is always someone worse off than you.
